Elevated Guitar

Elevated Guitar - May 2017

Elevated Guitar is dedicated to Larry Rose, whose late wife, Tanya, played and accompanied her beautiful voice with this very special 1899 0-21 Martin guitar. All the tunes on this CD were recorded using this instrument.

Thank you Larry,
for this incredible guitar.

Nothing conveys the deep, primal emotional response like the human voice. Just the way one speaks or sings a word can change the meaning from an embrace to a rejection, i.e. "It Had To Be You". . .

Each instrument has its own 'voice' that challenges the player to find a way to get across that certain emotional response at just the right moment - to find that certain 'voice' that sings the perfect emotion.

That was my goal for this recording. As I played, I asked myself, "How would I sing this passage?". Then I'd try to let the guitar convey that voice from within me.

It truly listened to me and I to it - and we bonded.

Special thanks to engineer, Bob Huff, whose expertise and love of music made the entire recording experience a true joy.
